In this live demo run in collaboration with our friends at Hypha, we will set up the Brussels Chapter of the New European Bauhaus as a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) using the Hypha DAO service, a solution designed with the regeneration of our economic systems in mind.
The session will last for two hours and will help you to understand how to set up your own distributed organization (for example your project consortium, or your local chapter or your collaborative project), and how to define the reward mechanisms. You will also see a how to use DAO's to help you manage:
- a community land trust
- community-based maintenance of large residential blocks
- distributed decision making for the use of public space (in particular, how to enable artistic experiences in public spaces)
What is a Decentralized Autonomous Organization?
Distributed autonomous organizations are organizational structures that enable distributed decision making while encouraging and recognizing non-monetary contributions to projects and activities.
They offer an alternative to traditional, top-down governance models while providing teams and communities with new opportunities to acknowledge and redistribute value. DAO's are often enabled by digital distributed ledger technologies (i.e. blockchain).
DAO's are maybe one of the organizational forms that matches closely the ambitions of the New European Bauhaus in terms of new governance, collaboration and business models.
